K20

A staple of the import tuner market for many years has been the use of motor swaps in order to give your vehicle that much needed foundation that your original motor could not. For many years the Honda market was based around the usage of the B series motor. This
motor was a stout powerhouse and was based around the Inline 4 design with the use of DOHC (Dual Over Head Cams) from the factory these engines produced between 126 horsepower (94 kW) to around 200 horsepower (150 kW) for many years these engines kept many Honda tuners content providing a much better basis than their D series counterpart.

Within the last few years however Honda has released a new beast that has Honda tuners only dreaming of what may be possible companies like Hondata have already begun to really tap into the power that is available in K series motors. The most powerful of the K series motors is of course the JDM K20A coming in at 220hp and the most equivalent motor readily available in the states is the K20Z1 and K20A2 coming in at 201hp and 197hp respectively. The aftermarket has more than welcomed the K series as the wave of the future with companies like Hybrid Racing coming up with motor mounts, throttle cables, half shafts, wiring harnesses and anything else you can think of to stick this motor in just about any Honda possible. What does the future hold for Honda in the import tuner game? My best guess is the emergence exciting new motor swaps of K20s and K20/K24 Frankensteins putting out numbers that were only dreamed about with the B series motor. The s2000 although no longer in production will most likely see import tuners grab ahold of this car and throw all they can into the F series motor making this car ever more nimble than it already is.
