New cars for Honda

Honda may be coming up with some of the most interesting concepts and quite possibly the wave of the future. As Honda has gotten rid of many cars in recent history such as the Honda S2000 and Acura NSX there look to be several cars to fill the void.

The first car is the Honda Beat although no power plant has been named for this vehicle it is a small convertible coupe much like the Honda S2000 with sleek and sporty styling which would most likely suggest that it may in fact fill the small sports car void left. With the heavy green push that Honda has recently be made it would be interesting to see if this is Honda's answer to the new segment of hybrid sport roadster.

The next void that was made was the high end "exotic" segment that was made by the Acura NSX. It would appear the HSV-10 GT is the new NSX. What is really interesting is that the chassis of the HSV-10 GT, is Honda’s original chassis developed for the NSX successor. This car has a 3.4 liter V8 engine underneath the hood producing more than 500 hp and will compete with the Nissan GT-R and other super cars currently on the market.

This is no surprise to Honda CR-Z and Mugen fans. Mugen intentions to develop a cosmetic package or even a tuned hybrid engine were clearly stated by Mugen from the first presentation of the CR-Z. Here comes a very interest part of what it seems to be the brochure produced by Mugen of the forthcoming tuned Honda CR-Z. As we can see from the photo their is a nice cosmetic addition to the front bumper and splitter, with side skirts and a nice rear wing. The wheels seems to be a set of 17 inch alloys, most probably light weighted. We are looking forward to see more by Mugen, since the CR-Z will be available in the Japanese market next year.

The 2nd to last car is of course the EN-V which we will most likely never seen in the States since it appears to be a car geared more towards the Japanese market. The car is small and highly custimizable from the factory. The car has a 1.5 liter hybrid engine and a six speed manual gear box making it quite possibly the first hybrid sports car from Honda but will certainly not be its last.

Finally the Honda Accord has a new availiable style. The all new Honda Accord Crosstour will be powered with a standard 3.5 liter V6 engine and a very interesting interior design. The new model was released November and sales are expected to go really well. We are just now starting to see the cars marketing campaign. Vice president of corporate planning and logistics for American Honda Motor Co., Mr. Erik Berkman said that “Honda has a longstanding reputation for maximizing interior space and utility in its vehicles”. He also added that “Like the award-winning Honda Fit, the Accord Crosstour uses a versatile design to create an interior that functions with the practicality of a larger vehicle.”

Honda quite certainly is positioning itself to be the car manufaturer of the future coming out with greener cars while not forgetting the gearheads in the equation. Will we see all these vehicles in the future... not likely but even a few would be nice.
