2 Tone 350Z

A two tone paint job, Carbon Fiber Hood, CWest Bumper and some nice fitment really set this 350 Z out from the crowd.

Plaid

So I know what your thinking... Plaid?!?!? really... yes this is by far one of the more unique engine bays I have seen, yah a lot of guys put Carbon Fiber all over the engine compartment this guy chose plaid and i must say it looks awesome, i wish the bay were a little cleaner and this might really make a more dramatic statement

Supra!

The car is a Toyota Supra fitted with very rare and wild Abflug aero, giving the car an extremely aggressive appearance due to the exaggerated lines and widened fenders. The car sits on a set of massive HRE wheels.

The motor is a 2JZGTE outfitted with quite a few HKS parts - HKS parts are purple. The bay was painted a matching purple, as well. All the piping was done by PowerFab. The purple carbon fiber pieces were done by Dip-Tech.

Vinyl Wrapped Rims

So I'm not sure if this will catch on or not but it seems to be a very interesting idea if done right. Most people that daily drive a car aren't into big body vinyls but it seems to be a viable option to look into rim vinyls. Essentially a very boring rim could be given a very intricate pattern that is very unique, especially in a scene where many rims are beginning to all look about the same

What Not To Do

Here is when tuning go seriously awry... I see what they might have been going for but the failed miseably and now we get to see the results.

Black paint does not constitiute a carbon fiber hood, your eyelids should match your hood or at least go with your body line or something and the sticker lip well it just makes an already busy car worse.

Pink isn't bad in moderation but when you just start painting parts that aren't body fenders pink cause you can you make the car look cheap... color is good when done tastefully and in moderation.

Bad attempt at urban camo or something I'm really not sure but what I am sure of is it looks disgusting... and if this is an attempt at graffiti you missed the mark.

This might have been cool way back when lots and lots of overdone graphics were in... wait no... it just looks like someone took one of those 8 packs of crayons and made a design on your car... tribal art in bright colors... NO

Car Furniture

So i was searching around the National Speed blog and came across this gem, it was posted up almost a year ago but it is so awesome you need to see it

Ever thought about placing a Motor in the middle of your living room? How about putting YOUR rear end in the rear end of a car?...in your kitchen. In order to get as much automotive paraphernalia as you can in your life, you need to bring some of these unorthodox contraptions into your home.

National Speed - V8 Coffee Table

First up is an awesome way to give new life to an old clapped out motor. Forget putting it into scrap, use it as a ‘friggen coffee table! If you intend on doing this yourself, do yourself a favor and use a V arranged motor, as opposed to an inline…that probably wouldn’t do very well, stability-wise.Price for something like this? Well, grab an old busted block, clean it up real nice and get a glass slab. There you go. Grab an old Jag V12 and go for broke.

National Speed - Aston Martin Couch

Alright, so you got the table…now what? Take a seat and kick back your feet on your Aston Martin Couch. This replica Aston Martin DB6 is offered in multiple color combinations and is brought to you by the Master Craftsmen over at Aston Martin Heritage Designs. Price for this ultimate living-room accompaniment? Only $7,300.

National Speed - Gearhead Desk

Last is something really Special. Eccentric, perhaps, but still very cool. Designer Dale Mathis crafted a glass tabletop showcase intertwined with interlocking kinetic gears that all work. While they don’t necessarily do anything but spin, I can’t think of many furniture that function (or rather, don’t function) like this one. This desk art piece conglomeration can be yours for the low price of $21,000. You can take out a loan and be the talk of the town!

Slamburglar Miata

And in the spirit of hot ass Miatas, Durty Harry does it with his slammed Miata with a beauty fender. Thanks to Will Cotter for some sexy pictures.

Miata Progression

So I know a Mazda Miata isnt quite the most appealing car in the world but i have seen some nice work done to these cars and some serious slamming so i figured i would highlight what the progression was on this car to take it from tame to a pretty hot car in only a few steps

The car started as a normally stanced pretty boring little Miata

After a late night coil over addition

The car was sitting mighty low but the black rims just don't cut it

but its amazing what some camber and

a new set of rims can make this car look like. Yellow was definitely a nice color to have for a new set of rims and will have anyone taking a second look as this girl is rollin down the street.

Pitts EJ

So i was tempted last night to put up some pictures by tsxer as i was running thru flickr and this just happened to be one of them. There have been several guys I have know that have chosen to modify their cars exactly in this manner, nothing too flashy just simple but the true beauty of these cars is in their subtle detail so when i saw this morning that HELLA FLUSH put up just one picture of this car i figured i needed to show some more than just his fitment.

The picture they put up doesn't really show the huge ass FMIC this guy is rocking.

As you can see though from the outside this car is largely unassuming but HELLA FLUSH is right gotta admire the fitment and the SSR rims

This was i nice touch that nobody would really ever notice but of course it is all in the details

When you look at the inside again this car is clean simple and largely unassuming with modifications only really being done to the steering wheel the shift knob and relocation of the radio for the kill switch

now the part that that really isn't seen is how clean this guys engine bay is. He does a great job of keeping the engine bay uncluttered even running a turbo setup. The wiring has been tucked the turbo kept low and close to the engine and the charge pipe quickly exits the engine bay. The car outside of its radiator and intercooler piping again is largely unassuming and doesnt really shine but it is this simple clean attention to detail that makes this car not any really flashy work. This car is clean and in so many ways reminds me of what a lot of my friends are working to do with their cars, unassuming yet beauty queens in their own right.

Sick Engine Bays

These are probably some of the cleanest engine bays most of you have probably never seen.

Clean tuck with nice offsetting valve cover

Not quite as clean of a tuck but a nice use of colors

Custom valve cover painting with an engine bay color that contrasts the car, gotta love it

A map of LA and ITBs with a clean tuck and shave make this a beauty for sure and the muted color of the bay makes the engine stand out that much more

And of course this guy probably has more detail put into his engine bay than most people have in their entire car... well done! I LOVE GRAFFITI on cars
